The Thorns, is a retirement home with stunning views over Morecambe Bay, which prides itself on offering a high standard of care in a luxurious setting. With a website which was over 12 years old, it was felt it was time for a change in their online presence in order to appeal in the digital era.
The discussion around who would be looking at care homes online, what all they would expect to find out about the residential home online and the different generations they were trying to appeal to was important. A life-changing time for many, any website to represent The Thorns would have to be sensitive to this fact.
The Thorns already had fitting branding and had recently taken professional photography of the residential home, Hest Bank and the surrounding Morecambe Bay area. This meant that we could design a website around The the residential home and their general image. We built a WordPress website which we felt put The Thorns across at it's best – a peaceful surrounding offering their residents a home which simply echoes the sign they have on their door ‘Our residents do not live in our workplace, we work in their home.’
What has stood out is how pleased The Thorns have been with their new site. They can update content independently and use it as a tool to update family from further afield on what the people who are most important to them have been up to. It has also resulted in The Thorns receiving more enquiries as finally they can show online what makes them that little more special.
