WordPress Websites Built for

Outdoor Activity Businesses

We help activity operators in Cumbria, Yorkshire, the North West and beyond to book more customers, manage bookings online and run their operations from one place.

From rock climbing and abseilling to water sports and guided walks — we build WordPress sites that work for your business.

The Challenge

Running an outdoor activity business means juggling bookings, managing availability, taking payments and keeping customers happy — often across email, spreadsheets and phone calls.

Your website should make life easier, not harder. It should:

  • Let customers book activities and pay online — anytime, not just in business hours
  • Show real-time availability so you're not managing double bookings
  • Take deposits or full payment (or both) depending on the activity
  • Send automatic confirmations so customers know they're booked
  • Show up in local search when people are looking for what you offer

Most activity operators are stuck with expensive booking systems or WordPress plugins that don't quite fit. We build something bespoke to your business needs.

How We Help

We build WordPress websites tailored to how you actually run your business, and to fit with the direction where you want your business to grow. No off-the-shelf booking system. No monthly SaaS fees. Just WordPress, configured to work for you.

What We Include

  • Online booking system. Customers select activity, date, time, number of adults/children. Real-time availability. Integrated payment via Stripe or PayPal.
  • Flexible payment options. Take deposits for some activities, full payment upfront for others. Invoice clients for balance payment.
  • Automatic confirmations & reminders. Customers get booking confirmation immediately. You get a summary email.
  • Local SEO. Show up when people search "rock climbing near Kendal" or "water sports activities Cumbria."
  • Mobile-friendly design. Most bookings happen on phones. Your site works perfectly on any device.
  • Ongoing support. We include a monthly care plan to handle updates, backups, and any changes you need.

Derwent Activities: From Email to Online Bookings

The situation: Derwent Activities near Keswick offered activities on Derwent Water — rock climbing, water sports, instruction — but was managing all bookings via email and spreadsheets. They needed a way to let customers book directly, see availability, and pay online.

What we built: A WordPress site with a custom multi-step booking form that lets customers choose between two paths:

  • Activity bookings: Select activity (climbing, SUP, instruction), number of adults and children, date and time. Real-time PHP price calculation based on group size. Payment via Stripe.
  • Water craft hire: Select date, time slot, and equipment. No payment at booking — confirmation only.
Activity Bookings

All bookings are stored in WordPress with CSV export. Payment confirmations are automatic. Derwent now processes 50+ bookings per month without touching email.

Outcome: Fewer admin hours, more bookings, customers trust the system (no delays waiting for email response).

Example: What Our Activity Operator Clients Have Built

Recent activity business partners we've worked with offer archery, ghyll scrambling, rock climbing, SUP,and guided walks; all on one WordPress site with integrated booking and payment. The pattern is the same: customers book online, availability is real-time, and the operator spends less time on admin.

Next Steps

If this sounds like what you need, let's have a conversation.

We'll ask about your current booking process, what activities you offer, how many bookings you're managing per month, and what's frustrating you most. Then we'll tell you honestly if WordPress is the right fit and what a site would actually cost.

There's no pressure, no sales pitch — just a conversation with people who understand your business.
