BIOPROTA
An international collaborative forum to support resolution of key issues in biosphere aspects of assessments of the long-term impact of contaminant releases associated with radioactive waste management.
BIOPROTA is an international network of specialists and experts in their field. Meeting annually to collaborate, share findings and explore their most current work programme, a website is the ideal way to information share and connect. BIOPROTA had a website which was suitably delivering this although it was cumbersome to update. It also sat on a server which had been compromised, although the site had gone unaffected. It was time for a change.
As the website hadn't been impacted, we initially migrated the existing website over to our hosting and ran a full check to ensure it was secure and uncontaminated by any security breach. We then supported BIOPROTA in updating the website.
The site was built using a website builder which had become outdated and no longer supported. Whilst it was a simpler task for us to update, it was quickly acknowledged that a new website, built using simpler processes, would be simpler and more efficient to update. It was also an opportunity to overhaul what was there and redesign the website so that key information was easier to find.
Working closely with the client we restructured the website, ensuring it was split into key areas e.g. Publications, Work Programmes, Annual Meeting Papers. We used a simple, modern and airy design aware that the primary purpose of this website was information sharing.
The website is built so that updates, additions and amendments are relatively simple. For the client this means that utilising our Support Block means they can pass these changes over to us, and that changes are no longer time onerous, meaning that it is great value. For clients like BIOPROTA a Support Block can go a long way!
