The Farmhouse Kitchen (fhk) opened in 2017 in Kendal, a market town which has a wide range of popular coffee houses and bistros. With a slightly different slant, serving quality produce with a distinct Cumbrian taste and feel, they were still entering a competitive market. As with all new businesses though, they had to balance outgoings with return on investment so on opening, a website was an undecided consideration.
Having undertaken work for the proprietor previously and in relation to another business in the food and drink industry, we had a good understanding of what would be required in terms of web design and social media. However, we also knew that as a brand new business without a digital footprint it would be challenging to generate a good online presence.
Our long-standing relationship allowed us to hit the ground running. Initial advice to keep costs low and raise an online presence was to focus on social media, with Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts quickly set up. It helped fhk get attention from locals and visitors to Kendal alike.
We then turned our attention to building a new, simple website for Farmhouse Kitchen. With an up-cycled, contemporary, farmhouse feel, we wanted to be sure that the website reflected this. Using stock imagery that underpins the use of good quality ingredients alongside photography of the interior, the website encapsulates Farmhouse Kitchen (fhk) perfectly. We included a social media board so that the engagement fhk has with its customers on social media integrates with the website, giving a full 360 impression of the business.
Built around intelligent SEO, we developed the website to perform well against site’s of other similar businesses in the area, using WordPress, our CMS of choice which is widely trusted amongst search engines. A year on Farmhouse Kitchen is continuing to evolve and to discover it’s unique brand. We have built them a website which is capable of growing and adapting with Farmhouse Kitchen at their own speed. Just over a year on, we wish them all the best with their continued success.
We’re easy to talk to and we don’t (and won’t) talk jargon. We like to keep things simple.
