Having taken over the business, the owners of How Head Cottages also inherited the website. Keen to stamp their own personality on the business, and to really show the beauty of their spot in the world, it was felt that it was time for a refresh.
Like many small self-catering accommodation businesses, How Head Cottages use other agencies for booking. Nevertheless they still felt there was an importance in having their own online presence through a carefully balanced website.
We built a new WordPress site with gentle aesthetics at the heart. Through our choices of fonts and colours we tried to give the site an art deco feel which compliments the beautiful cottages nicely. Having visited the location to meet the owners on a couple of occasions we could really sense the draw to How Head.
Using booking agencies rather than direct bookings, it was vital that the website was friendly and personable but also gave clear advice for those looking to make a booking which we did by linking in to Coppermines and Lakes Cottages.
With a true appreciation for the area and wildlife around Coniston, it was felt a new website could be a good way to capture the true beauty of the Lake District. The owners have a collection of stunning photography, taken in all seasons, which played a key role in the website build. They also decided to support this through the creation of an Instagram account which feeds into the website, keeping images current.
For us it is quite a special website, very much in keeping with the quaintness of this very special Lake District accommodation.
