Our first client as Freshspace, we had built the Farmer Network a website prior to this project. The first site we built transformed the Farmer Network’s web presence with a responsive WordPress website which they could easily manage themselves. Moving away from traditional methods of communication, we supported them in stripping away outdated content and readdressing the site framework. Initially this worked well but during this three year period there were fundamental changes at the Farmer Network.
Whilst the objectives around supporting farmers were the same, the Network was taking a more modern approach to media, using video and written content to tell the success stories of farmers who had utilised the Farmer Network’s support in reaching their achievements. The Farmer Network had honed in on their priorities and now had a view of how these could be presented more effectively. The old website was 'perfectly fine’ but starting again from the grassroots was the most productive way of reaching the more dynamic look they were trying to achieve.
With an already well-developed, working relationship, we were able to hit the ground running. We agreed on a new design which was bolder, simpler and presented vital information clearly. Using pops of orange across the site and professional photography, we built a visual site which again reduced any written content which was not altogether necessary.
Keen to grow membership through farmers, sponsors and corporate members, the website had to sell the true benefits of the Farmer Network. A new feature of the site allows Farmers to become a member online, as the site now takes card payments. Sharing publicly news items which are carefully written and beneficial events for the farming community, it also contains a secure login area for members to access all-important information. With a key goal for a useful information hub for farmers.
Key to the new website was to showcase success stories of the Farmer Network and their members, utilising media channels, including videos of farmers. With a selection of Projects now published on the website thanks to the production of content by the Farmer Network, it is easy for visitors to the site to see the exceptional support which the Farmer Network provide to the farming community. In addition, the friendly introduction to the team on the website, makes the Farmer Network appear online as the friendly and personable organisation it is.
