With experience of web design, having built the previous Lowthwaite B&B website, owner Tine had created a space on the internet that perfectly reflected Lowthwaite, and the experience of staying there. Sadly, the historic site was built in Dreamweaver with the ability to modify, update and build on what was already there coming to an end. A new website would mean taking on a whole new CMS (content management system) so had potential to feel like a leap.
We understand that introducing a new system, on this occasion WordPress, can be daunting and a learning curve if you like to be hands on with your website. With faith that WordPress would be a workable solution in place of Dreamweaver going forward, we undertook the overall buildd and design of the new website.
With a design which already felt meaningful to the family at Lowthwaite and fitting to the beauty spot near Ullswater, it was important that we were sensitive to this. We attempted to subtly modernise what was already there, adding more white space and attempting to ‘declutter’ a website which had been built on over a number of years, whilst keeping that important content which tells the story of Lowthwaite and the surrounding area.
It was clear that this was more than a website for a Bed & Breakfast; it was a user guide for visitors to the area, a window into the life at Lowthwaite with recipes and local walking routes, it was also full of charm to entice the next guest. We made it our business to capture all of this rather than whitewash what had already been so carefully built.
We’re easy to talk to and we don’t (and won’t) talk jargon. We like to keep things simple.
And we'll get back to you to discuss how we can help you
